March 8, 2008 WOMEN'S DAY
The festivals were created to celebrate or remember important events and significant, there are festivities, Christmas celebrations to remember happy or tragic events. It was a tragic event to initiate what would become the Women's Day, originally set up to remember an episode from the early years of the twentieth century.
It was 1908, when in New York, in 'Cotton textile industry, the workers went on strike because of the precarious conditions in which they were forced to lavorare.Lo strike lasted for several days, until, on 8 March, the factory owner, Johnson, decided to block uscite.Successivamente a fire broke out, probably arson , and 129 workers burned by the flames.
Following this episode, for the first time, there were many activities and events on women's rights, America that spread throughout the civilized world.
Within fifty years, she has made many achievements, but when the day of the woman became "Party" Women, it has lost its original meaning.
Daily Today this event, like many others, has become an excuse for commercial food consumerism: Women on the occasion to celebrate with friends, and the men burglarizing shops to buy gifts and flowers.
Personally, however, I want to give meaning to this day we remember especially the women still face violence, in fact many times, especially in recent times, we read of rapes and abuse of power?
Let us believe in the capacity of women so often fight their battles and suffer in silence. And let us also believe in working capacity and empowerment that women have within them, and they must learn to show, even more than what they've done that already 1908.
